Doctor-led care in Sector 46, Gurugram
Short answer: PRP is a dermatologist-supervised regenerative hair treatment that uses components derived from the patient blood sample. A consultation helps decide whether PRP is suitable for the hair fall pattern and scalp condition.
This information is educational and does not replace an in-person dermatologist consultation. Suitability, safety, downtime, cost, number of sessions and results vary by patient.

We draw a small amount of your blood and spin it to concentrate the platelets. Because it comes from you, allergic reactions are very unlikely. Tenderness or redness for a day or two is common.
Dr. Gulati checks your scalp, the pattern of your hair fall and what you've already tried before recommending anything.
How many sessions you need, and how far apart, depends on the cause of your hair fall and how your scalp responds. We adjust the plan as you go.
The Treatment
The Science Inside PRP
The platelets themselves aren’t what helps. It’s the growth factors they release once injected. Here is what each of the main ones does in the scalp.
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor
Signals the cells around the follicle to divide and repair. This supports healthier, sturdier follicles in areas that have started to thin.
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor
Helps form new blood vessels in the scalp. Better blood supply around the follicles means more oxygen and nutrients reach them, and poorly supplied follicles are one reason hair gets thinner over time.
Insulin-like Growth Factor 1
Helps keep hair in its growth (anagen) phase. DHT and age shorten this phase, so hair falls out sooner. IGF-1 works against that and can help follicles stay in the growth phase for longer.
Epidermal Growth Factor
Encourages new skin and follicle cells to form. This supports a healthier scalp surface and helps repair follicles affected by long-term inflammation or DHT.
Transforming Growth Factor Beta
Calms inflammation in the scalp. Low-grade scalp inflammation is a known contributor to pattern hair loss, and TGF-β helps settle it so the scalp is in a better state to hold on to hair.
Fibroblast Growth Factor
Acts on the cells at the base of the follicle (the dermal papilla). FGF-7, also called KGF, supports follicle structure and the growth of the hair shaft, which matters most in thinning areas.
Treatment Comparison
PRP isn’t the only option. We also offer GFC and medical treatment for hair fall, and we’ll tell you which one makes sense for your case, even if that means not doing PRP.
From ₹3,500 per session
Platelet-rich plasma made from your own blood and injected into thinning areas.
Usually 4 to 6, three to four weeks apart, then maintenance every 3 to 6 months.
None to speak of. Mild tenderness or redness for a day or two.
Early to moderate thinning, especially if you want a lower-cost start.

Growth factors extracted from your own blood, without the blood cells.
Often fewer than PRP. We set the number after your scalp check.
Similar to PRP. Mild tenderness for a day or two.
People who want a more concentrated option, or who didn’t respond well to PRP.

What We Treat
These are the problems people most often bring to a PRP consultation. We check each one before suggesting treatment.
🧬
Gradual thinning at the crown or hairline, or a widening parting. We look at where you're losing hair and how quickly.
⚡
Sudden heavy shedding often has a trigger, like illness, stress, crash dieting or low iron. We look for that first, because PRP won't fix the cause.
🔄
Some types of hair loss, such as scarring alopecia, need a firm diagnosis and a different treatment. We check before going ahead.
💉
Had a hair transplant or another scalp procedure? PRP is sometimes used afterwards, and we'll advise you on timing.
✨
This page covers PRP for hair. If you're interested in PRP for the face, ask at your visit and we'll explain how it differs.
🌑
Tell us about earlier treatments and any medicines you take, including minoxidil or finasteride. It changes what we recommend.
🔲
Before your first session we explain the possible side effects, mostly tenderness and mild swelling, and what to do afterwards.
🌿
Active dandruff, an itchy scalp or an infection should be treated first. PRP works better on a calm scalp.
The Procedure
A full PRP appointment, from blood draw to aftercare advice, takes 45 to 60 minutes. There’s no recovery time.
01
We start with your history and a close look at your scalp. If PRP isn't suitable, we stop here and tell you why.
02
A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, much like a routine blood test.
03
The sample is spun in a centrifuge here in the clinic to separate out the platelet-rich plasma.
04
We mark the thinning areas and talk you through the comfort measures we use before starting.
05
The plasma is injected into the thinning areas with fine needles. This part takes about 30 minutes.
06
Don't wash your hair for 24 hours, and avoid heavy exercise, swimming and strong sun for 48 hours. Call us if anything feels wrong.
Clinical Excellence
If you’re comparing clinics for PRP treatment in Gurgaon, the differences aren’t obvious from the outside, but they show up in results. How well PRP works depends on how the blood is processed, how the platelets are prepared, how deep the injections go and how evenly they’re spread over the thinning areas. At Cult Aesthetics & Derma we use a closed-system PRP kit, and the injections are done by the doctor, not handed off to a technician. We place them at the level of the follicles across every thinning zone, not just near the surface. We also offer GFC, so if standard PRP isn’t the best fit for your pattern of hair loss, or you haven’t responded to it before, we can switch rather than repeat the same thing.
PRP rarely works best on its own. Depending on what we find, your plan may also include a check for nutritional causes, medical treatment for the scalp, and a session schedule that first aims to slow shedding, then support regrowth, and then hold on to the gains. For most people this is a 6 to 12 month plan rather than a one-off fix. If you’ve tried plasma therapy for hair loss elsewhere without much change, bring your old reports and we’ll look at what could be done differently.
Am I a Candidate?
PRP helps some types of hair loss more than others. Here’s who it tends to suit, and who we’d look at more carefully first.
🧬
PRP tends to suit early to moderate pattern thinning, where the follicles are weaker but still active.
⚡
If you're shedding heavily right now, we look for the trigger first. PRP can help, but only once the cause is known.
💆
If you've had a hair transplant, PRP may be used to support it. We'll discuss the right timing with you.
💊
Some medicines, such as blood thinners, matter for PRP. Bring a list of everything you take.
📉
Thinning all over the scalp can have several causes, including hormones and thyroid problems. We work out which before suggesting PRP.
🔄
Patchy or scarring hair loss needs a proper diagnosis. It may need medical treatment rather than PRP.
🌿
PRP results need upkeep. Most people who respond come back for a maintenance session every 3 to 6 months.
⚠️
If the follicles are no longer active, as in advanced hair loss, PRP won't bring them back. A hair transplant or medical treatment may be the better route, and we'll say so.
What to Expect
PRP works gradually. The first sessions mostly slow the shedding, and any gain in thickness shows up over the following months.
Follow-Up Review
We review your progress with photos at each visit instead of judging it against a fixed date.
Many people notice less hair fall within a few weeks of starting. The scalp can feel a little tender for a day or two after each session.
If You're Not Responding
Not everyone responds the same way. If there's no change after a few sessions, we'll tell you and talk through other options.
Fine new hairs may start to appear, often along the hairline and in recently thinned areas. Existing hair may feel stronger and fall less easily.
Progress Review
We decide the number and spacing of further sessions based on how you're responding.
By this stage, people who respond usually see better coverage and thicker strands in the thinning areas.
Follow-Up Planning
From here, we plan how often you'll need maintenance to keep the results.
Maintenance sessions every 3 to 6 months help keep the improvement. Without them, the underlying hair loss can carry on.

Common Questions
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment uses a small amount of your own blood. We spin it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, then inject the plasma into the thinning areas of your scalp. The platelets release growth factors, including PDGF, VEGF, IGF-1, EGF, TGF-β and FGF, which can help weakened follicles grow stronger hair and stay in the growth phase longer. At Cult Aesthetics & Derma in Gurgaon we offer both PRP and GFC.
Most people start with 4 to 6 sessions, 3 to 4 weeks apart, followed by a maintenance session every 3 to 6 months. Many notice less shedding by the second or third session, and new growth, if it comes, usually shows by the fourth or fifth. The exact number depends on how severe your hair loss is, what's causing it and how your scalp responds.
Side effects are usually mild. Because PRP comes from your own blood, allergic reactions are very unlikely. You may have tenderness, redness or slight swelling where the injections went in, which typically settles within 24 to 48 hours. PRP isn't advised for everyone, for example people with certain blood disorders or on blood thinners, so we check your medical history first.
Both are made from your own blood. PRP concentrates the platelets, so it contains plasma, platelets and a small number of other blood cells. GFC (growth factor concentrate) goes a step further and extracts the growth factors themselves, without the blood cells. GFC is more concentrated and often needs fewer sessions, but it costs more. We offer both and recommend one based on your hair loss. For a fuller comparison, read our PRP vs GFC guide.
PRP works best for early to moderate pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia), shedding after illness or stress (telogen effluvium), and general thinning where the follicles are weaker but still alive. It can't regrow hair where the follicles are gone, as in advanced hair loss (Norwood V to VII). In that case a hair transplant is usually the better option. We confirm whether PRP suits you with a scalp examination (trichoscopy) at your consultation.
PRP for hair costs ₹3,500 to ₹6,000 per session. GFC costs ₹6,000 to ₹10,000 per session, and PRP for the face starts from ₹4,000 per session. We offer package prices for a first course of 4 to 6 sessions. The consultation and scalp assessment are free, and you'll get an exact price for your plan before you start.
